Chrechte Clan Markings

The Chrechte have practiced the art of tattoo for millennia and use it to mark two significant passages in life.  The first is the initial change into animal form that happens sometime during puberty.  At that time, the type of animal the Chrechte turns into is tattooed onto their bodies.  The werewolves have their tattoos on their right shoulder blade.  Initially, all Chrechte used the same blue ink simplistic Pictish tattoo, but as the centuries passed and packs became more separated, the tattoos changed until not even all members of the packs used the same ones, or any at all.

The second life passage marked was when a Chrechte took over leadership of their individual group.  At that time an arm band tattoo was used to distinguish the leader's status.  This is still done today, though the tattoos have changed significantly.

A third, but much less common practice is for mated couples to have a common tattoo administered to both mates.  This symbolizes their willingness to be together for life.
